Christy De la Garza-Gilbert

Christy De la Garza-Gilbert, PMHNP-BC

Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Christy De la Garza-Gilbert is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, who serves the pediatric and adult populations of Durango, Cortez, and Pagosa Springs. Christy was born in San Antonio, Texas, and is a graduate of St. Edwards University, University of Texas, and Walden University. She obtained her Master of Nursing from Walden University in 2021. Her residency was at Axis Health System in Durango and Cortez, Colorado, where she completed her training with her mentor, Dr. Aaron Montano.

Christy has special interests in pediatrics and nutritional psychiatry. She is a member of The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychiatric Association, Integrative Psychiatry Institute, National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Theta Tau International, Aspen Awards, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Christy resides in Durango, Colorado, with her partner, one daughter, and two teenage roommates (partner's children). She enjoys everything outdoors, being with her family, traveling, anything involving children, Snowdown, and hosting parties.

Christy's decade of experience as a critical care nurse allows her to provide a holistic lens that considers not just the patients' mental health presentation but also their health status and social, scholastic, environmental, and economic situations to yield prudent, effective, and safe care.
